M Sc COUNSELLING PSYCHOLOGY (Self Financed)

Specialization in Counselling Psychology equips the students with knowledge,imparts right attitudes and trains them in skills that are necessary for assessing the problems of individuals and groups and to seek solutions for the same through Counselling Psychology. The course will prepare the students to launch themselves in expanding professional world as:Psychologists, Counselors, Therapists, Consultants, Resource Persons, Faculty Members, Facilitators and Instructors.
      M.Sc. Course in Counselling Psychology is a Two-year Full-Time Choice-Based Semester Programme and is offered to graduate students who have taken a subject or  paper or papers related to Psychology at the under-graduate level. The course includes a spectrum of self-developmental skills and thus the papers offered are application-oriented and will train students in the skills required to become experts. The uniqueness of this course  is that the students will be exposed to learning through field experience, internship and will be equipped with job-related social and technical skills;in Counselling Theory and Skills, Counselling Children with Special Needs, Advanced Statistics in Behavioural Sciences ,Psychological Assessment, Case Analysis — Praxis of Counselling, Health Management and Psychological Wellbeing, Corporate Counselling ,and Behaviour Modification.

Eligibility for admission
  A student who has passed B.A./ B.Sc. Psychology Degree Examination, or any of the following degree, Bachelor of Social Work (BSW), B.A. Sociology, B.Sc. Home Science or Human Development or Child Development, B.A. Philosophy, B.Ed. or any other related subjects, B.A / B.Sc.  with Psychology paper / papers either from the Madras University or from any other University, accepted by the Syndicate as equivalent thereto, shall be permitted to appear and qualify for the M.Sc. Degree in Counselling Psychology of this University.
